First-Year Foundations

Our first year will be dedicated to laying the foundation for sustainable empowerment through community outreach, civic education, and advocacy.

  • Community Outreach- Our top priority is understanding the needs of Muslim communities in the Greater Richmond region. The VMCL will conduct listening sessions with participating masajid in the area, as well as unique demographic groups such as business owners, refugees, healthcare workers, youth, and more.

  • Education - Civic knowledge is fundamental for empowering Muslims to engage in civic life. The VMCL will conduct workshops and seminars on relevant issues that affect our community, such as workplace accommodations & discrimination, issue advocacy, and strategies for organizing.

  • Advocacy - The VMCL will establish relationships between Muslim communities and local, state, & federal officials to advocate for just policies and practices.
